SCOPE_IDENTITY and @@IDENTITY broken on SQL 2005 and SQL 2008??!

Check out this website I found at connect.microsoft.com It is late admittedly and I am just skim reading at the moment but unless I am very much mistaken SCOPE_IDENTITY and @@IDENTITY which are the inbuilt SQL Server functions for returning the newly inserted unique identifier are broken in SQL Server 2005 and SQL Server 2008.
